Addis Ababa to Istanbul is a new route planned by Star Alliance Partner Ethiopian Airlines. The airline had announced this new service effective December 5, 2018.

Today Ethiopian Airlines was forced to postpone the start for this new flight to March 4, 2019.

In a press release, the airline claimed they are ready to start service as scheduled and had duly finalized all preparations to start the flights, however, the Turkish Aviation Authority was to blame for the delay in having issues to refuse the necessary permit due to operating issues and landing slot problems.

Ethiopian apologized to passengers booked for the inconvenience.
